New wedding location: oak canyon nature center

Although Ryan and I have had our heart set on the lavender farm, we have decided to make a location change. We weren’t able to get a quote from the lavender farm and with the wedding a year away we needed a concrete number in order to budget.

My amazing friend Miko sent me the link for the Oak Canyon Nature Reserve. It’s beautiful and within our budget. Ryan and I went to go check it out Thursday, June 2nd, 2011 and we fell in love with it. Where we will get married has a canopy of oak trees with a stream behind it. It’s perfect since we are avid hiker and campers.

Ryan has been bugging me about getting him a ring. He wanted people to know he is engaged too. He is leaving on tour and wanted it while he was apart from me. So cute!!! I surprised him with the ring while we were there. He looked stunned and so happy! Now this location has a special memory for us!
We met Denise, the program specialist, and got a tour. We are going to sign the contract and pay on Thursday June 9th. We are saving the date of June 23, 2012.
I’m so happy!

update: We signed the paperwork and Denise suggested I watch a wedding there during the time that ours is. I went on Friday, June 17th and watched the most adorable wedding. I loved the string lights. I now want to do lights down the alley with white pinwheels hanging at different lengths.

Also at 5 pm the entire area was shaded. It would have been nice if they had their lights plugged in then. The temperature was perfect. I can only hope that a year from now, the weather will be the same. 🙂
