When Miko told me she was planning her engagement party I told her I was happy to help. She and I have the same taste so I took it as an opportunity to go through the motions of planning and crafting.
She asked me to make cake pops. I was a little nervous because it takes 2-3 hours just to make one batch (about 12). I knew we would need about 80 pops. 8 cakes, 2 tubs of frosting, 16 eggs, 4 packets of candy melts, 2 containers of sugar crystals, 4 days equalling over 8 hours=done!
The Saturday before the party I went up to Pasadena to put together home made pinwheels and decoupage letters. It is challenging getting the brads through the paper.
The day of the party I came 4 hours early to help set up. I hot glued the sticks to the pinwheels. Although beautiful, I’m happy with my decision to just buy the prefab pinwheels from oriental trading. We set up the lights, pictures, table settings, flowers, etc. We were running around ragged and guests were showing up before we were finished.
All the planning and work payed off. The Mcloughlin house looked beautiful!! It looked like a wedding. I’m so proud of Miko and glad I got to be a part of it!

On June 5th 2011 Ry and I participated in the mud run at camp Pendleton. I never thought I’d be able to do it. Its a 10k in mud with obstacles and hills… Lots of hills. I’m so happy that we were able to do it together. 🙂

Today Ryan and I met mama mac (Cindy Mcloughlin) and her friend at the LA flower district. Mama mac is going to do our flowers for our wedding. She met us there about 6 months ago to get ideas for flowers and cost. We chose whimsical flowers that would go with the lavender farm. Since we changed venues we want wild flowers in natural tones with pops of yellow and orange.
Ryan and I found tons of flowers that would work. It was super cute how involved he was in giving his opinion.
I even bought some to use in our engagement shoot next week with Valerie!
